Party Without Plastic® Seal of Approval
Our 'free from single-use plastic' seal of approval is designed to cut through greenwashing and make it easier to choose genuinely plastic-free options for joyful celebrations.
What the seal means
Products displaying the Party Without Plastic® Approved seal have been checked through our review process. This is a materials-based audit, not a lab test, and does not provide third-party certification.
What we check
We review each approved product against our published policy and evidence supplied by the maker. Depending on the product, this can include:
- A full materials breakdown (including coatings, finishes, dyes, inks, and adhesives where relevant).
- Packaging materials (where the product is also approved for packaging).
- Supplier chain information and/or specifications where available.
- Product and packaging photos.
- A signed declaration confirming the materials used match what has been submitted.
What we do not claim
We want to be very clear about what this seal is and isn’t.
- We do not claim to undertake lab testing.
- We do not claim any third-party certification or accreditation.
Instead, we focus on a clear promise: free from single-use plastic, checked against our policy and evidence.
Two approval levels
You may see one of two versions of the seal:
- Product Approved: the product materials have been checked and approved.
- Product & Packaging Approved: both the product and its packaging have been checked and approved
Ongoing checks
To keep the seal meaningful, we ask makers to:
- Tell us if materials or packaging change.
- Reconfirm details periodically.
We also carry out spot checks.
For makers: How to be awarded the seal
Existing Party Without Plastic® marketplace sellers - there is no charge for current sellers to have eligible products reviewed for the seal.
Makers not yet selling on Party Without Plastic® - you can apply for the seal of approval for a small one-off fee. If you join our marketplace within 3 months of receiving the seal, we will refund the fee in full.

Report a concern
If you believe a product carrying this seal of approval may not meet the standard, please contact us. We take concerns seriously and will always review the evidence and inform you of the outcome of the review.
